The post was allegedly from Cucurella's hairdresser on X, an account that has since been deleted.
In the early hours of April 22nd, Chelsea continued to have a forgettable day, losing 0-3 to Brighton & Hove Albion in the 34th round of the Premier League, but their troubles began even before kick-off.
Information about Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro's absence was leaked early on social media from an account believed to belong to Marc Cucurella's hairdresser.
Before the match started, a post appeared on social media platform X with the status update: "Palmer and Joao Pedro are both injured. This is exclusive news for you," accompanied by a picture of Cucurella getting her hair done.
Coincidentally, when the match began, the information from the post was confirmed as neither Palmer nor Joao Pedro were on the matchday squad list.
Chelsea are no strangers to leaks. In their two Champions League matches against Paris Saint-Germain in March, their starting lineup was leaked. At the time, manager Liam Rosenior confirmed the club knew who was behind the leak.
But this time, the incident was much more public and further exposed the chaotic situation at Stamford Bridge.
For Chelsea, the biggest blow is Palmer. The 23-year-old midfielder suffered a hamstring problem and didn't even travel with the team to the away game. This is a major blow to the London club's ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League, as Palmer has been their most important creative force in attack this season.
Chelsea played poorly and were defeated 3-0 by Brighton. This loss leaves them in seventh place, making it difficult for them in the race for a Champions League spot with only four rounds remaining in the Premier League.
