Sporting CP made history by coming from a three-goal deficit to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the second time in their history.

Sporting pulled off one of the most memorable comebacks in UEFA Champions League history.

In the early hours of March 18th, Sporting defeated Bodo/Glimt 5-0, securing their place in the quarter-finals with an aggregate score of 5-3. This marks the second time in European Cup history that a Portuguese representative has achieved this feat despite losing by three goals in the first leg.

Previously, in the knockout round of the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup 1963/64 season, Manchester United defeated Sporting CP 4-1 at Old Trafford in the first leg.

In the return leg in Lisbon, Sporting pulled off one of the most classic comebacks in European history, crushing Manchester United 5-0.

This match is remembered by Sporting CP fans as one of the most glorious nights in the club's history. Manchester United was a very strong team under manager Matt Busby, with stars like Denis Law, George Best (who was still young at the time), and Bobby Charlton.

This is why Sporting CP fans have every right to be proud when recalling this achievement, as they just came back from a 3-goal deficit against Bodø/Glimt. In the history of European cups, not many teams have successfully come back twice in the knockout rounds after losing by 3 goals in the first leg.

This also marks the first time in 43 years (since 1983) that Sporting CP has returned to the quarter-finals of the European Cup/UEFA Champions League.
