Chelsea want Samu.
According to The Sun , "The Blues" are about to restart negotiations for Samu after almost successfully signing the Spanish striker for around €40 million last summer. However, the deal fell through due to issues related to the medical examination and negotiations for image rights.
After leaving Atletico Madrid to join Porto in August 2024, Samu Aghehowa has made remarkable progress in his career. Last season marked a breakthrough for the 21-year-old striker as he scored 25 goals in all competitions, including 19 in the Primeira Liga, making a significant contribution to Porto's third-place finish.
This performance is a stark contrast to his lackluster time at Atletico, where he was rarely given the opportunity to showcase his talent.
Aghehowa's impressive form led Porto to make a significant investment to acquire all of his economic rights. Within just a few months, the Portuguese club spent a total of €32 million to buy out all remaining shares, making Aghehowa the most expensive signing in the club's history.
This also means that Porto will not easily sit down at the negotiating table if Chelsea officially return. The price to acquire this striker is said to have reached 100 million euros.
On Chelsea's side, they already have Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, and are preparing to welcome Emmanuel Emegha in 2026. However, with ambitions to maintain squad depth and compete on all fronts, Aghehowa remains a highly attractive option.
