With only just over 3,700 km on the odometer, a 2025 Hyundai SantaFe Hybrid 1.6 HTRAC is being resold for 1.25 billion VND on the Hanoi used car market, significantly lower than its listed price of around 1.45 billion VND. This figure indicates the owner has accepted a loss of hundreds of millions of VND after only a short period of use.

In reality, to get the new generation 2025 Hyundai SantaFe Hybrid on the road in Vietnam, initial buyers not only pay the listed price but also have to add many other costs such as accessories, service packages, insurance, etc.

This includes registration fees (10-12% depending on the locality if there are no incentives), license plate registration fees, vehicle inspection fees, civil liability insurance, and often comprehensive insurance. The total on-the-road cost can therefore increase to around 1.6-1.7 billion VND, or even higher if accessories or service packages are purchased.

Compared to the original cost, the resale price advertised on the used car market is 1.25 billion VND, meaning the owner may have to accept a loss of 300-400 million VND after only a few thousand kilometers of use. This depreciation is not insignificant, especially for a car that is still very new and shows no obvious signs of deterioration.

According to the seller, the car was manufactured in 2025, registered in early 2026, and is privately owned from the start, never through an intermediary. It has a 7-seat configuration, a white exterior, a black interior, and uses a 1.6L gasoline engine combined with a hybrid powertrain and HTRAC all-wheel drive. Notable safety features include automatic emergency braking and lane keeping assist.

The fact that a nearly new car has to bear significant depreciation as soon as it's registered clearly reflects the reality of the Vietnamese automotive market. The listed price is only one part; the actual cost of registration and other related expenses is what buyers truly have to pay. When reselling, most of these costs are not included in the car's value, resulting in a considerable loss for the seller.

Conversely, this presents an opportunity for those buying used cars. With prices hundreds of millions of dong lower than new cars but in almost identical condition, these vehicles often attract significant interest. Buyers can save considerably on initial costs and avoid waiting times for delivery if the model is in short supply.

However, the price of 1.25 billion VND is still considered high in the context of a volatile used car market. As supply stabilizes, especially for hybrid versions, resale prices could continue to adjust. Therefore, buyers should carefully consider their options and avoid purchasing at high prices unless absolutely necessary.
