According to Bild, the president of the German Football Association (DFB), Bernd Neuendorf, and Bundesliga CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke will fly to New York this weekend to finalize the last agreements with Jurgen Klopp.
The report states that negotiations have entered an advanced phase. Both sides have almost agreed on all terms, from the contract duration, salary, coaching staff composition, sponsorship deals, to Klopp's long-term role within the German Football Association system.
The former Liverpool manager will receive a salary of 7 million euros per year to become the new head coach of the German national team, while also continuing his role at Red Bull.
The move comes after Germany's disappointing 2026 World Cup campaign, which led to the resignation of coach Julian Nagelsmann.
"The German tank" was eliminated in the first knockout round, losing on penalties to Paraguay in Boston.
Nagelsmann's team was unable to recover after falling behind and ultimately suffered a bitter defeat.
Ironically, Klopp was also in the stands watching that match as a commentator, directly witnessing Germany's World Cup dream shatter.
