Through a live broadcast on his personal Facebook page, Santi Lothong, President of the Thai Esports Federation, stated that player Naphat Warasin, after being caught cheating and violating tournament regulations, fell into a state of panic and required medical assistance. Currently, the individual is still unstable and unable to undergo further internal disciplinary procedures.
Mr. Santi Lothong shared that Tokyogurl (Naphat Warasin) has been hospitalized. According to the doctor's diagnosis, the player is experiencing psychological problems including panic attacks, paranoia, and anxiety disorders. Although he committed a serious offense that affected national prestige, he will still receive standard medical care.
Accordingly, the Thai Esports Federation makes a clear distinction between humanitarian issues and individual mistakes.
The president of the Thai eSports Federation went live to answer fans' questions following the scandal.
Chairman Santi Lothong said the association's secretary-general had advanced the costs for the girl's hospitalization. The process will continue once Tokyogurl recovers. "The athlete is required to personally apologize for her actions," the Thai leader said.
Furthermore, he stated that the Federation will continue to expand its investigation into the individuals involved, to see if there was any complicity from other coaches or teammates.
Previously, the president of the Thai Esports Federation announced that the organization had decided to withdraw the women's Arena of Valor team from the 33rd SEA Games. The incident stemmed from a violation by player Naphat Warasin.
According to the schedule, they still have the loser's bracket final this morning. This person is also the President of the Asian Esports Federation.
"I would like to announce that Thailand will withdraw its women's AOV (Arena of Valor) team from the 33rd SEA Games, which Thailand is hosting. We respect all rules, friendship, and sportsmanship. What has happened may have exceeded the responsibility of the organization, as this is a major issue."
"But as the host nation, we cannot let the tournament continue like this," said Santi Lothong.
With the Federation's decision, Thailand will be withdrawn from the SEA Games 33, automatically nullifying all their results and achievements. This means Timor Leste will win the Bronze Medal, and Vietnam will face Laos again in the final.
Besides the women's event, the men's team Mobile Legends: Bang Bang competition will also take place at the 33rd SEA Games. Vietnam and Thailand are the two contenders for the gold medal. The host country stated that the scandal will not affect the men's team.
