Late on April 22nd, Chelsea announced the decision to sack head coach Liam Rosenior following a prolonged run of poor results.

Coach Rosenior was forced to leave Chelsea.

The London club confirmed the termination of the contract was effective immediately. However, Chelsea still showed considerable respect for the manager, acknowledging the efforts and professionalism he had demonstrated since taking over the team mid-season.

Rosenior took over the hot seat amidst a turbulent period, but was unable to turn things around. A string of poor results, culminating in a 0-3 defeat against Brighton, became the final straw. Against a direct competitor, Chelsea played disjointedly, lacked vitality, and offered almost no significant resistance.

The statistics only make the picture bleaker. "The Blue" lost five consecutive Premier League matches without scoring a single goal, for the first time since 1912. For a team that has won the European Cup twice and has consistently invested heavily in the transfer market, this is clearly a major shock.

Immediately after the sacking, Chelsea quickly appointed Calum McFarlane as interim manager until the end of the season. His task was to revive the team's morale, improve performance, and aim for European qualification, while also maintaining ambitions in the FA Cup.

In the long term, Chelsea's leadership has stated that they will conduct a comprehensive assessment before making an official decision on the head coach. With confidence shaken, the Stamford Bridge club must act quickly but also accurately to avoid repeating past mistakes.
