This special edition Aston Martin Vanquish Wave Edition proves that color coordination alone is enough to create a unique, one-of-a-kind vehicle.
Aston Martin will soon be celebrating the one-year anniversary of the launch of the current Vanquish Volante, the most powerful convertible ever. As if to remind us of that, the British automaker has introduced a new version of the car, simply called the Wave Edition.
This vehicle was created to raise funds for the Naples Children and
Education Foundation, an organization working to “improve the physical, mental, and educational well-being of disadvantaged and at-risk children.” Therefore, it is scheduled to be auctioned at the 2026 Naples Winter Wine Festival auction, which opens this weekend in Collier County, Florida.
Like all cars sold for charity, the Vanquish had to have a theme, and the name clearly reflects that: the movement of water and waves in the Florida Gulf Coast. Through skillful use of paints and colors, the team at Q by Aston Martin and Aston Martin Naples, the project team, succeeded in creating a car that effectively conveyed the message.
The inspiration for this design comes from the Collier County coastline, and every element on the convertible is designed to express "the rhythm, reflection, and serenity of moving water." Yes, it's a matter of personal perception, but again, to me, this design is truly impressive and shows that sometimes, all you need is the right color scheme to make a car look unique and special.
The exterior design of the Vanquish aims to convey a message of energy and dynamism, and this is achieved by using the Q Iridescent Sapphire color as its main hue. It's a shade of blue with a greenish shimmer, said to mimic the metallic movement of water around the Everglades.
From one place to another, the Aston Martin features Club Sport white accents. You can see them as thin lines on the black carbon fiber details, including the lower body, rearview mirrors, side fenders, rear diffuser, and hood vents.
The white color, also featured on the V12 logo, is said to mimic waves crashing against rocks along the coast, but it contrasts sharply with the glossy black on the lower and upper parts of the car and the red on the brake calipers – this color also serves a purpose, mimicking the colors of the Florida coastal marker buoys. In contrast to its dynamic exterior, the Volante's interior is designed as a tranquil oasis, with a predominantly Glacier White color scheme.
Since this is merely a cosmetic upgrade of the standard Vanquish Volante, the car doesn't have any mechanical improvements. Bearing the title of
the world's fastest and most powerful front-engined convertible, this "monster" is equipped with a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, the same as the coupe version, capable of producing 824 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque.
The car has a top speed of 214 mph (344 km/h), and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds. The engine's power is transmitted through an 8-speed ZF gearbox. Aston Martin hasn't said how much they expect to get from the Vanquish Volante Wave Edition at the auction on January 31st, but the asking price for a standard version is around $500,000.
