To celebrate the Year of the Horse 2026, BMW China has launched a special edition of its luxury SUV, the X5, featuring special colors and an interior inspired by horses.
For 2026, the BMW X5 will have a special edition in China, featuring customized paint colors and interior. 2026 is the Year of the Horse, and BMW China is releasing a special edition of the X5 called the Year of the Horse Edition.
One of the first upgrades for the Year of the Horse Edition is the paint color, which will be a matte Sapphire Blue. From the images, this paint color has a very dark shade, almost a deep purple. It will also include several black exterior details, such as the grille, exhaust pipes, and 22-inch alloy wheels.
No special edition is complete with just the exterior, so the X5's interior will also feature some horse-inspired accents. Chinese culture favors shades of red and gold, which this special edition embodies with its gold door sills and dark red synthetic leather seats.
Of course, the horse emblem is also created and embroidered on the seats; it is inspired by the image of the "divine horse" in the Dunhuang murals, representing the spirit of "strength, speed, and pioneering." Aside from the aforementioned highlights, the BMW X5 Year of the Horse Edition in China has no differences in powertrain or mechanics compared to the regular version.
There will be two powertrain options for this X5: a 2.0-liter turbocharged mild hybrid engine with 258 horsepower and a 3.0-liter mild hybrid engine with 381 horsepower, both paired with an 8-speed transmission.
According to several sources from Chinese automotive blogs, the price of this special edition 2026 BMW X5 Year of the Horse ranges from 598,000 to 748,000 Yuan, equivalent to approximately 2.25 to 2.81 billion VND.
