According to the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, after thorough preparation, the opening ceremony of the three-walled sailing tour in Ha Long Bay will take place with all necessary operating conditions met. The vessels have been equipped with safety equipment and are ready to serve locals and tourists during the April 30th - May 1st holiday.

The highlight of the Halong Bay three-wall sailing tour is its approximately 12km coastal route, starting from the passenger ferry terminal near Halong Bay Market 1 (Hong Gai Ward), passing by Column 5 beach before returning to the starting point. Six trips are planned daily, each lasting about an hour, at fixed times in the morning and afternoon, allowing tourists to easily choose a suitable time.

Initially, the three-walled sailing tour of Ha Long Bay will be offered free of charge to allow locals and tourists to experience it. However, with only three boats in operation, each carrying a maximum of 12 passengers, demand is expected to be very high, especially during the upcoming peak tourist season.

Three-walled sailboats are a traditional means of transportation closely associated with the lives of fishermen along the coast of Quang Ninh, especially in the Quang Yen area. With a design consisting of three joined planks (one bottom, two sides) and two distinctive bat-wing-shaped masts, this type of boat is capable of flexible operation, even against the wind. This is what creates the unique charm of three-walled sailboat tours in Ha Long Bay, offering a different experience compared to modern tourist boats.

Reviving the Scarlet Sails

More than just a sightseeing tour, the Halong Bay three-walled sailing tour also aims to preserve maritime culture. The crew is selected from local labor, prioritizing fishermen who have transitioned from coastal fishing to tourism. They will wear traditional clothing such as brown shirts and five-panel blouses, and conical hats, contributing to the recreation of the unique cultural atmosphere of the coastal region.

Another highlight of the Halong Bay three-wall sailing tour is its environmental friendliness. Using wind power instead of engines minimizes emissions, aligning with the green tourism development trend pursued by many countries. The brown and red sails stand out against the blue water and limestone cliffs, creating a scene like a "living painting," adding to the allure of Halong Bay.

According to Quang Ninh's tourism industry, three-walled sailboats previously appeared along the shores of Ha Long Bay and quickly attracted the attention of tourists, especially young people, who came to take photos and check in. Introducing this type of boat into official Ha Long Bay three-walled sailboat tours is expected to become a new distinctive tourism product, adding to the heritage site's experiential ecosystem.

With its combination of natural landscapes, local culture, and sustainable tourism trends, the Halong Bay three-wall sailing tour is expected to quickly become a new highlight, enriching the experience for visitors to this world natural wonder.
