Striker Kylian Mbappe made a great mark in Champions League history with a hat-trick in just 6 minutes and 42 seconds for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid surprisingly conceded a goal after only 8 minutes of play in the away match at Olympiacos in the 5th round of the Champions League group stage that took place early this morning (November 27, Vietnam time). That was the situation where Chiquinho shot very hard in front of the penalty area, causing goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to fly as far as he could but still could not block it.

However, Kylian Mbappe brought the equalizer 1-1 for Real Madrid in the 22nd minute after using his speed to beat the offside trap before finishing past goalkeeper Tzolakis. Just two minutes later, Mbappe helped his team take a 2-1 lead with a high header after a high pass from a teammate on the right wing.

In the 29th minute, the French striker completed his hat-trick by also breaking the offside trap, easily defeating goalkeeper Tzolakis in a face-to-face situation.

This is the fifth time Kylian Mbappe has scored a hat-trick in the Champions League, four of which have been away from home. This is the highest achievement of any player in the history of the tournament, with the closest competitor being former Italian striker Filippo Inzaghi with three hat-tricks away from home in the Champions League.

Notably, only three players have scored more hat-tricks than Mbappe in the Champions League, namely Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi (both 8) and Robert Lewandowski (6).

Mbappe's latest hat-trick came just 6 minutes and 42 seconds into the game, the second-fastest ever in the Champions League. Mohamed Salah still holds the record for the quickest hat-trick, against Rangers in 2022, when he scored three goals in 6 minutes and 12 seconds.

Mehdi Taremi scored a goal for Olympiacos early in the second half to narrow the gap.

However, Mbappe quickly scored his fourth goal of the game in a superb display, before Ayoub El Kaabi grabbed a consolation goal for the home side in the final minute.

Mbappe has now scored 64 goals in 92 Champions League appearances for Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. The Frenchman remains sixth in the all-time rankings, behind Ronaldo (140), Messi (129), Robert Lewandowski (105), Karim Benzema (90) and Raul Gonzales (71).
