Actress Nana, formerly of After School, has taken firm legal action against the perpetrator of a home invasion robbery, expressing strong anger over what her side describes as malicious false claims and secondary victimization. Her legal team has filed a countercharge for false accusation (무고죄) after police formally dismissed the suspect’s claims.
On January 23, Nana’s representatives released an official statement clarifying the status of the case. According to the agency, the incident has consistently been investigated as a case of aggravated robbery causing injury, based on clear physical evidence and statements from both the victim and the perpetrator. The suspect, identified as A (34), has already been indicted on robbery related charges, with the criminal trial currently underway.
Denial and Contradictory Testimony in Court
However, controversy escalated during the first court hearing held on January 20, where A denied possessing a weapon during the crime and claimed he did not assault Nana’s mother. He further alleged that he was unilaterally assaulted by Nana, directly contradicting earlier investigative findings.
Nana’s side strongly refuted these claims, stating that the suspect has shown “not a single sign of remorse” and has instead pursued retaliatory legal action by filing counterclaims and repeatedly changing his testimony. The agency criticized the behavior as deliberate distortion of facts, particularly pointing out that Nana’s public profile has been exploited to spread unfounded narratives.
Police Conclude Claims Are Groundless
In response to the suspect’s counter complaint filed on charges including attempted murder and special injury police recently issued a “no charges” (혐의없음 불송치) decision against Nana. Authorities determined that her actions during the incident constituted legitimate self defense, effectively confirming that the suspect’s allegations were baseless.
Based on this conclusion, Nana’s legal team has proceeded with a formal false accusation charge, describing the suspect’s actions as intentional, malicious, and constituting a second wave of harm against the victim. “Nana will not remain silent,” her representatives stated. “We will pursue all available civil and criminal legal measures to ensure the perpetrator is held fully accountable for both the original crime and the subsequent false claims.”
Background of the Incident
The incident occurred on November 15, 2025, when A allegedly entered Nana’s residence using a ladder while armed with a weapon, threatening Nana and her mother while demanding money. Nana reportedly managed to subdue the intruder during a physical struggle before contacting the police.
As a result, Nana and her mother sustained injuries requiring medical treatment, submitting diagnoses of 33 days and 31 days of recovery, respectively. The suspect also suffered a minor jaw injury during the confrontation. The Uijeongbu District Court (Namyangju Branch) is scheduled to continue hearings on the aggravated robbery case on March 10.
