G-DRAGON has once again confirmed his status as a defining figure in Korean pop music, reclaiming the Digital Song Grand Prize (Song of the Year) at the Golden Disc Awards a full decade after his last win in the category.

The milestone moment took place on January 10 at the 40th Golden Disc Awards with Upbit, held at the Taipei Dome in Taiwan, where G-DRAGON was announced as the recipient of the ceremony’s highest honor in the digital music category.

A Song That Defined the Year

The winning track, “HOME SWEET HOME (feat. Taeyang, Daesung)”, stood out as one of 2025’s most impactful releases, earning praise for both its commercial performance and artistic depth. The Digital Song Grand Prize is widely regarded as the Golden Disc Awards’ most prestigious accolade, recognizing the single track that best represents the year in Korean popular music.

Beyond the grand prize, G-DRAGON also took home Digital Song Bonsang and Album Bonsang, dominating major categories and underscoring his wide-ranging influence as a solo artist.

“Still in Progress”

In his acceptance speech, G-DRAGON expressed gratitude, calling the award a meaningful way to begin 2026.

“It’s an honor to receive such a significant award as the first prize of the new year,” he said. “I sincerely thank the fans who always support me.”

He also hinted at future plans, adding that he intends to return with fellow BIGBANG members, sparking excitement about upcoming group activities.

A Historic Return to the Top

This win carries special significance: G-DRAGON last received the Golden Disc Digital Song Grand Prize in 2016, when BIGBANG claimed the honor at the 30th ceremony. His return to the top after 10 years highlights a rare level of longevity and relevance in an industry defined by rapid change.

Further cementing his legacy, G-DRAGON was the only artist to be named to the Golden Disc’s commemorative “Powerhouse 40” list in both solo and group categories, recognizing artists who shaped the past four decades of Korean music.

Looking Ahead: Fan Meeting in Seoul

G-DRAGON is set to reconnect with fans in person with his first-ever solo fan meeting, titled “2026 G-DRAGON FAM MEETING.” The event will take place from February 6 to 8 at KSPO DOME in Seoul’s Olympic Park, with additional details to be released through official fan channels.

A decade after his last grand prize—and decades into his career—G-DRAGON’s latest achievement sends a clear message: he isn’t a legacy act revisiting the past. He’s still shaping the present.
