Season 2 of Netflix's Korean drama “Squid Game” was not nominated for an Emmy Award, the most prestigious broadcast ceremony in the US this year.
The American Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony on the 15th (local time). “Squid Game” failed to make a name for itself in major categories, such as the Drama Series Best Picture Award.
Forbes, an American economic magazine, said on the day, “This <오징어 게임 style=""> drama series was predicted to be a work that could be nominated (as a nominee) in categories such as acting, production design, visual effects, and stunt acting, including a nomination, but it was a complete failure.” Still, he added, “Season 2 still boasts 83 points on Rotten Tomatoes (US rating site).” 오징어>
Three years ago, “Squid Game” was first released for Season 1, and was nominated for 14 categories, including the Emmy Award for Best Picture, Best Director and Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actor. It was the record for the highest number of nominations for a foreign-language drama of all time submitted for an Emmy Award.
At the awards ceremony that year, it received awards in 6 categories, including Director's Award (Hwang Dong-hyuk), Best Actor Award (Lee Jung-jae), Guest Award (Yumi Lee), Visual Effects Award, Stunt Performance Award, and Production Design Award.
Regarding the failure of this year's Emmy nomination for “Squid Game,” there is an analysis of whether Season 2 and Season 3 actually received a poor score in terms of completeness by breaking the middle of the season system.

However, since Season 3 is being submitted for next year's awards ceremony, there is a possibility that it will be nominated next year. This year's Emmy Awards ceremony will target works shown from June 1 of last year to May 31 of this year. Season 2 of “Squid Game” was released in December of last year, and season 3 was released in June of this year, respectively.
Eight movies were nominated for the Emmy Award for Best Picture in a Drama Series, including the Disney+ Star Wars series “Andor,” Netflix's “The Diplomat,” “The Last of Us,” “The Fit,” “White Lotus,” Hulu's “Paradise,” “Severance: Disconnection,” and “Slow Horsis” by Apple TV+.
Apple TV+'s “Severance: Disconnection” was nominated for the most Emmy Awards, which received a total of 27 nominations, including the Best Drama Award.
