The large-scale project 'Twelve', selected by Disney+ and KBS2 at the same time, has finally lifted its veil.

Ma Dongseok's action 'Twelve' will be released on August 23. The picture is still cut/ Disney Plus

This film, which is about to be broadcast for the first time on August 23, has been a hot topic even before it aired, as OTT platforms and terrestrial confirmed simultaneous release. Above all, actors who have gained a fan base at home and abroad, such as Ma Dong-seok, Park Hyung-hyung, Seo In-guk, and Seong Dong-il, have joined together, and it is regarded as a work worthy of the modifier 'greatest casting'.

KBS announced on the 30th that it will reorganize the existing tree miniseries into a Saturday and Sunday miniseries starting in August. This is part of a strategy to create a so-called “drama zone (ZONE)” by continuously organizing weekend dramas and Saturday and Sunday miniseries to induce viewers to stick to the channel. “Twelve” was the first hitter of this reorganization. It will be broadcast on KBS2 at 9:20 on Saturday and Sunday nights, and will also be shown simultaneously on Disney+.

“Twelve” starts from a worldview based on the 12 gods of the East. It is an action hero depicting a battle where 12 angels who live in human form to protect humans fight against the forces of evil. The combination of a huge narrative that crosses ancient and modern times, an original setting, and the appeal of the actors is heralding a new trend in the summer drama market.

In the first stills that were released, the strong presence of unique characters stands out. Ma Dongseok plays the role of 'Taisan', an angel that symbolizes tigers, and appears as the leader of the 12 angels, and takes center stage with his unique strength and charisma. As the forces of evil that were sealed thousands of years ago reappear in the human world, Taesan goes to all-out war with 12 angels.

Park Hyung-sik plays the evil force 'Ogi', which symbolizes a crow, and establishes a tight confrontation between good and evil. Seo In-guk is the angel “Won Seung,” who symbolizes a monkey, and is a three-dimensional character with both playfulness and strategic judgment. Lee Joo-bin appears as “Mir,” an angel that symbolizes dragons, and arouses viewers' curiosity as a character with power sealed in battle thousands of years ago.

Seong Dong Il character stillcut/ Disney Plus

Ko Gyu-pil portrayed a performance where the angel “Donnie,” which symbolizes a pig, and “Kang Ji,” which symbolizes a dog, breaks down and makes use of each personality. Sung Yu-bin leads both action and drama by playing the role of 'Ji-dol', which symbolizes mice, and Ahn Ji-hye plays the role of 'Mal-sook', which symbolizes horses. The up-and-coming Regina Rey is expected to leave a strong impression by being cast as an angel “drop,” which symbolizes snakes.

Here, Seong Dong-il appears in the role of 'Marok', the manager who oversees the 12 angels and a human chosen by God, adding a sense of weight to the drama. Various animal symbolism and matching character settings are expected to provide viewers with a new fantasy experience.

“Twelve” is not just a hero. In a story where the human world and celestial beings intersect, the values of justice, sacrifice, and solidarity take center stage. Furthermore, the strategic positioning to encompass domestic and international viewers through the simultaneous release of two platforms, KBS and Disney+, stands out.

Meanwhile, in September, 'A Good Day for Eun-soo, 'starring Lee Young-ae, Kim Yeong-gwang, and Park Yong-woo, will be broadcast as the second installment of the KBS2 Saturday and Sunday miniseries. “A Good Day for Eunsu” is a mystery drama depicting a dangerous and secret business relationship between an ordinary parent and a secret teacher, and it is expected to unfold the psychological warfare and tense development of characters who are entangled through drug bags.

The KBS Saturday and Sunday miniseries strategy, which began with the confirmation of the broadcast of “Twelve,” is attracting attention in terms of content diversity and platform convergence. Attention is being paid to how the performance of a group of dodecagonal characters centered around Ma Dongseok will drive K-drama box office this summer.
