Digital travel platform Agoda recently unveiled its list of the most affordable destinations in Asia for spring travel in April and May 2025, which included a beautiful coastal city in Malaysia that should be on the radar of more travellers.
We are of course talking about Kuala Terengganu, which ranked 6th and the only Malaysian destination that made it on the list.

In a press release, Agoda lauded the Terengganu capital city as a coastal gem that boasts beautiful beaches, traditional crafts and lively markets.
Furthermore, visitors can explore the city’s iconic Crystal Mosque or take a boat ride to the nearby Redang Island for snorkelling and diving.
Agoda asserted,
“The city’s rich cultural heritage, including its batik-making traditions, offers a unique experience for travellers.”
The digital travel platform found that the average room rate in Kuala Terengganu is USD48 or RM212 per night, just USD2 (RM9) more expensive than the Philippines’ Bacolod which placed 5th.
Vietnam’s Phong Nha is Asia’s cheapest travel destination this spring
Meanwhile, Vietnam’s Phong Nha was named the most affordable travel destination in Asia on the list, with an average room rate of only USD28 (RM124) per night.

Agode elaborated that the list was made by analysing the average room rates of the top 20 destinations per market based on accommodation bookings.
Bookings made in January or February 2025 with a check-in date between 1 April and 31 May 2025 were included in the analysis. Prices quoted are average prices, subject to change and cannot be guaranteed.
