A 3-year-old boy fell from a vehicle around 11 AM on April 7 along KM 5, Jalan Lipis-Merapoh, after his dad pulled over to take a phone call.
According to the police statement, the 36-year-old dad was driving with his son from a hardware store in Tempoyang and was heading to the Tempoyang intersection for a U-turn.

He drove 2km before realising his son wasn’t in the car
After making the U-turn, the dad pulled over on the left side of the road at KM 5 to answer a phone call. Upon resuming the journey and reaching KM 7, he realised his son was no longer in the car.
The dad immediately tried to search for his child but was unsuccessful, so he went to the Kuala Lipis Police Station to file a report.
Meanwhile, a passerby found the child by the roadside and took him to the Padang Tengku Police Station. When the father arrived at the Kuala Lipis Police Station, he was told his son was at the Padang Tengku Health Clinic.
The boy suffered facial injuries and was treated at Kuala Lipis Hospital.
The child fell through an open window
Preliminary investigations suggest that the child fell from the car through an open rear window while the father had stopped to answer a phone call.
Lipis District Police Chief, Supt. Ismail Bin Man is calling on anyone with information about the incident to come forward and help with the investigation.
The police also urge all road users to drive carefully and safely and to ensure that their vehicles are well-maintained and secure.
The case is currently under investigation by the police under Section 337 of the Penal Code.
