Remember the Mazda ARATA concept? Well, Mazda has announced plans to introduce the new MAZDA CX-6e battery electric vehicle to markets including Europe and Australia. The model made its world premiere at the Brussels Motor Show in Belgium on January 9 and is scheduled to go on sale in Europe this summer. Mazda also plans to launch the CX-6e in Australia by the end of the year.

The MAZDA CX-6e is a crossover SUV and the second global battery EV developed under Mazda’s collaboration with Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd., following the MAZDA 6e. The CX-6e is based on the MAZDA EZ-60, which was first announced at the Shanghai Motor Show last year. Mazda says the vehicle combines its own design philosophy and driving characteristics with Changan’s electrification and intelligent technologies.

Design-wise, the CX-6e follows the concept “FUTURE + SOUL x MODERN,” aiming to balance aesthetics with advanced technology. For driving performance, Mazda has tuned handling and ride comfort to suit European market preferences, with a focus on its “human-horse” driving philosophy.

The CX-6e is equipped with a range of intelligent features, including voice and gesture recognition, the latest driver assistance systems, and digital side mirrors, where regulations allow. These technologies are intended to improve safety and overall driving comfort.

In Europe, Mazda’s battery EV lineup currently includes the MAZDA 6e, a mid-size electric sedan launched in September last year. The company reports that the MAZDA 6e has recorded cumulative sales of more than 7,000 units since its release. With the addition of the CX-6e, Mazda aims to further expand its battery EV range and address growing customer demand in key markets.
