Mercedes-Benz has introduced the all-new electric C-Class, marking the first fully electric version of one of its best-selling model lines. The new model aims to redefine the mid-size segment with a focus on performance, range, and digital technology while retaining the C-Class’ core traits of comfort, elegance, and sportiness.

Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, said the electric C-Class combines performance, comfort, and efficiency, adding that it is the most powerful and sportiest version of the model to date.

Built on a dedicated electric platform, the model has a 2,962 mm wheelbase—97 mm longer than the combustion C-Class. Interior space is improved, with additional legroom and headroom for passengers.

Cargo capacity includes a 470-liter rear boot and a 101-liter front trunk. The vehicle can tow up to 1.8 tonnes with an optional trailer coupling.

Inside, the electric C-Class introduces a redesigned cabin combining digital and physical controls. The optional MBUX Hyperscreen spans 39.1 inches across the dashboard and is supported by the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS). Other features also include Ambient lighting with 11 configurable themes, an optional SKY CONTROL panoramic roof with dimmable glass, and 162 illuminated stars, a Burmester 4D surround sound system with seat-integrated transducers, and electrically adjustable seats with massage, ventilation, and lumbar support

At launch, the top variant is the C 400 4MATIC electric, producing 360 kW and accelerating from 0–100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. It offers a range of up to 762 km (WLTP).

The model uses an 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling up to 330 kW of fast charging. Mercedes-Benz claims up to 325 km of range can be added in 10 minutes. A rear-wheel-drive variant with an expected range of around 800 km will follow.

The electric drivetrain features a rear-mounted permanently excited synchronous motor and a two-speed transmission designed to balance acceleration and highway efficiency.

The electric C-Class offers optional AIRMATIC air suspension and rear-axle steering. The system adjusts ride height using navigation data and road conditions, improving both comfort and efficiency.

Rear-axle steering can turn up to 4.5 degrees, reducing the turning circle to 11.2 meters and improving maneuverability.

The new model runs on MB.OS, integrating infotainment, vehicle functions, and driver assistance systems. It supports over-the-air updates and includes AI-powered features combining ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing, and Google Gemini.

Navigation is based on Google Maps and includes route planning with charging stops. The system can adjust charging strategies and battery preconditioning in real time.

Driver assistance is handled by the MB.DRIVE system, using up to 27 sensors and cameras. Features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, and automated lane changes. More advanced functions, such as MB.DRIVE ASSIST PRO enables assisted driving in heavy traffic.

The electric C-Class features up to 11 airbags, a front-center airbag, and PRE-SAFE systems that prepare the vehicle for potential collisions. A new curve function tightens seatbelts if the vehicle approaches a bend at excessive speed.

A one-box braking system supports energy recuperation of up to 300 kW, allowing most braking to be handled electrically to improve efficiency.

The all-new electric C-Class is initially planned for launch in the United States, where regulatory conditions allow deployment of its advanced driver assistance features. Additional variants and configurations are expected to follow, as well as launches in other select markets globally.
